The day before your UCAT

Be prepared - make sure you have everything you need for the test: importantly, a printout of your UCAT email confirmation from Pearson VUE and acceptable photographic identification (the name must match the one on your confirmation email, and it must be in date). Ensure you know where your UCAT testing center is and how you are going to get there. If you are ill or have extenuating personal circumstances, you can reschedule your UCAT test. You can do so by contacting Pearson VUE. Remember that if you present yourself for the UCAT, you are declaring yourself to be fit for the test.

The night before your UCAT

Revision at this stage is not going to be very helpful, in fact, this may even stress you out or exhaust you. The UCAT tests your skills not your knowledge so this is not the time to overwhelm yourself. It’s time to rest and recharge. We recommend doing something you enjoy that will help you relax. Exercise or dinner with friends. Make sure you have a good meal and an early night, if you’re struggling to sleep, try getting up and writing your thoughts down before returning to bed, this can help clear your mind of worry.

The day of UCAT

Ensure you have a good breakfast, with plenty of carbohydrates to support you during the 2 hour UCAT. Good options would be Porridge or wholegrain toast and eggs. If you usually drink tea or coffee then this is fine but don’t overdo it as you’ll only need the bathroom!

Before you leave your home, make sure you have the following:

  • The UCAT test center address and phone number

  • A printout of your UCAT confirmation email from Pearson VUE

  • Photo identification

  • Anything else you need, such as reading glasses

You will need to arrive at the UCAT testing center at least 30 minutes before your scheduled start time to complete the check-in process. Note that candidates who arrive more than 15 minutes after their scheduled appointment time will not be allowed to take their UCAT test.

Make sure you have a bottle of water and a healthy snack (such as a muesli bar or piece of fruit) before you go in – you’re in there for 2 hours and don’t want to be distracted by hunger!

Good luck!
